I caught the low, er,I mean highlights of last nights grammys.

I think the word "pathetic" sums it all up nicely.

Also, doesn't ANYONE know how to dress with style and class anymore for an awards show? The clothing designers must be on an LSD IV drip, and the ones who are called celebrities would actually look better in t-shirts and jeans than the god awful getups they wore. At least the clothing they wore last night matched their level of talent.

If THEY went on strike would anyone really care?

4. Music shows anymore make me feel old and crochety.
I try to have an open mind about music, and I like most of it. However, some of it just makes me want to put my fist through a wall. And anymore I don't immediately recognize artists and songs, either.

But I did like -- ahem -- "Forget U". How Gwyneth Paltrow had the nerve to stand up on that piano with those heels, I'll never know.

6. for a change, I didn't think it was that bad
Cee-Lo/Muppets were hilarious, Esperanza Spaulding ( young woman jazz bassist!) won for Best New Artist (well, she's not that new, but still!), Arcade Fire cleaned up at the end (wonderful collaboration of indie rockers who can also write!), and we old folks got to see Dylan, Babs and Mick.

And Mavis Staples and Neil Young FINALLY won for music!

I don't mind the wild-getups- it's the Grammys!

9. I didn't love everything but I really liked a lot of it.
The salute to Aretha was touching and I thought it rocked. I have always liked Eminem, in part because he's got more lives than a cat and is the real Detroit deal. I always love seeing Jagger and though his piece was tuneless I've seen him perform enough times to just plain enjoy him. I thought Mumford and Sons and the Avette Bros were amazing in their ability to fill up a stage with acoustic instruments, and Dylan's voice has become a raspy, crazy instrument all its own. And Rhianna has a booty to DIE for. Beiber ain't my cuppa, but the kid got out there and committed himself to the songs in a way that I can't help but admire.

I thought Gaga, whom I rather admire, failed, as did Cee Lo, whom I bloody adore. I think they were trying to have fun with the childing-down of "Fuck You" but they've done it a few times now and I get it. Besides, he's kind of oddly hot and the peacock suit didn't do him justice.

Anyway, that's my long-winded defense of what I thought was a generally fun evening. I like that there was such a wide range of ages and styles, and was a bit disappointed that the most conventional, Lady Antebellum, won.

10. The Cee Lo thing copied Elton John performing with the Muppets
on the Muppet show back then. Right down to the costume.

11. Only worthwhile part to me - seeing Arcade Fire take best album, and do Ready to Start.
So nice to see people who write and perform their own music and not use autotune and not make it about what they wear and how they dance actually win!

12. I thought it was pretty decent
not great, I guess, but then the Grammys have never been my favorite, as far as awards shows go. But I enjoyed a fair amount of it, particularly the Cee Lo Green / Muppets act.

I thought they did some fun looks.

15. Am I the only one pissed off that Lady Antebellum ripped off the Alan Parsons project...
...And they WON with it???

:puke: :puke: :puke:

They absolutely ripped off the Alan Parsons Project's song "Eye in the Sky" and they freaking won a bunch of awards for that song. I can only hope they end up like Vanilla Ice--completely discredited for being the plagiarists they are.

Loved the Aretha tribute, and Mick did a pretty fine job for being the age he is--he had them up and rocking when he performed!

As for the clothing, I really thought it was kinda tame, if you want the truth.
