In the wake of the 2000 election and Bush v. Gore, it became "Democratic Underground," but prior to that, it was a patriotic site for cat lovers.



In those days, the mods would lock or delete any thread that did not include either cute cat photos or a discussion of cats.

There were 48 different forums, but each had the word "cat" in it, so deciding which forum to post in was a challenge, but just as they do today, the mods would move your post if you put it in the wrong one.
