While My Guitar Gently Weeps - the definitive - the Concert for George
Edited on Sat Feb-12-11 09:07 PM by Bake
Clapton pouring out his grief over his lost friend, George, along with McCartney, Ringo, and an all-star band ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNBEiyGwGRc

It just doesn't get any better than this. The soaring guitar ...

We miss you, George. Still my guitar gently weeps.

1. He had a karmic bond with George and Patti, didn't he?
And Dhani accompanied him on guitar in this clip. Very nice.

6. He looks so much like a young George it's downright scary.
And they just don't write songs like this any more.

3. EC did have a bond with George and Patti
Edited on Sat Feb-12-11 09:52 PM by Bake
In the years that ensued, he and George worked through the whole thing with Patti, according to EC's autobiography (which I highly recommend).

The Concert for George is a testament to their enduring friendship.

I've got one or two friends like that. One of 'em is in Jackson, MS. He and I, like EC and George, are truly brothers. On second thought, yeah, it's just one. And he's truly a brother.

9. Great vid. I think I see Jim Keltner on one of the drum kits
Pretty sure he was at that concert, he had a long association with George including the Concert for Bangladesh and the Traveling Wilburys. Fantastic drummer.

12. That DVD was awesome
I bought it years ago and watch it every now and then. That was an amazing tribute and makes me cry every time. Didn't Clapton play the lead guitar for that song on the White Album? I believe he did. One of my favorite songs of all time.

17. You'd love it
I watch it several times a year. The talent on that stage honoring the genius that was George...

I'm in awe and in tears every time.

19. Nice to meet you!
George and I share the same birth date. :-)

His son Dhani was so poised and so gracious in that recording. His father was a very special man and it's obvious his son is as well.

20. The tears are what I fear.
I cry every time I watch The Last Waltz, especially during Forever Young, because I look at all the people I've always idolized when they were so young, and so was I, and see the passage of all that time.

Good to see ya, babe!

Bill came home with the DVD!!! We were talking about it yesterday and I sent him the video in the OP. He had an old Best Buy card from his former employer, so he stopped and bought it today. :bounce:

23. Ain't it GREAT??!!!!!
One of my favorite concert DVDs. The Monty Python segment (Harrison was a huge Python fan) is excellent, too - look for a surprise guest among the Mounties.

24. We're waiting until this weekend
so we have lots of time to sit and enjoy it all. The hours are just too short when we get home from work and there are always lots of other things to be done. I want to really enjoy this uninterrupted.

Thanx, Bake.
