Is greed hard-wired into humans?

(I don’t mean just those of a particular political persuasion.)

For example, your great-uncle Joe, whom you never knew had two nickels to rub together, dies and leaves you $100,000.

If you’re not a trust fund baby, you’re ecstatic.

Then you find out Great-uncle Joe left $100,000 also to your cousin Cathy. Or worse yet, he left cousin Cathy $200,000…..

1. I don't think that would be greed so much as jealousy.
Why did Great-uncle Joe love Cathy more than me? After all I did for that old geezer.
