Friday I got off work a little early and drove Alley to El Porto to catch the new moon at dusk. We could just make it out, 6 degrees above the horizon and only 23 hours old which is unusually young for a new moon here in So Cal. Even if I remembered to bring a camera I don't think our little 3 megapixel instamatic could pick it up.
