3. Ani Difranco's Untouchable Face
Doesn't have the "scope" of Imagine, but it's still one heck of a song.

For that matter, Yesterday also packs quite a wallop.

6. When I Fall In Love by Nat King Cole
it can be sung by any gender and not change the words at all. Imagine is and always has been a dirge, slow tempo, played incessantly after Lennon got shot I grew to hate that song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h649I7ETaHI

When I fall in love
It will be forever
Or I'll never fall
In love

In a restless world like this is
Love is ended before it's begun
And too many moonlight kisses
Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun

When I give my heart
It will be completely
Or I'll never give
My heart

And the moment I can feel that
You feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you

And the moment I can feel that
You feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you

8. If it were truly "perfect," Johnny Cash would have recorded it like Rick Tubin wanted him to.
It was during the "American Recording" Sessions near the end of Johnny's life. Rubin presented the song and encouraged Cash to record it and he turned him down because he wouldn't sing the "Imagine no religion" line.

And imagining no religion is wonderful for people who don;t believe in religion, but for those who do, it's a matter of "I won;t tell you what to believe in, and you can do the same for me...m'kay?"

And "imagine no possessions?" The man owned mansions and Bentleys!

Sorry. Not perfect.

18. Even as it made him ill,
he stuck to his love of Ludwig van. It was, after all, a crime against humanity to use Ludwig van as the background music to his reprogramming :D
