This lump..
under the blanket next to my dog, is my other dog. She'll stand there and wait till you put a blanket over her, then she wraps herself in it and sleeps.

Anyone else have a dog/cat that does this?

1. That's a riot
My Bella likes to bundle herself in but not under! I've never seen a dog do that!

2. She's the first dog I've ever seen do it....
She will just stare at you till you get up and drape the blanket over her, then she twirls till she's completely covered then flops. If someone comes to the door, she jumps up and runs with the blanket hanging off like a cape. I don't know what she does when we're sleeping..

3. Did you adopt her as a pup?
Or does she have some unknown history. No, I have never had an animal who wanted his/her head underneath the covers. I think it is adorable that your other dog snuggles up to her anyway.

4. Yes, we've had her since she was 12 wks old...
she started this out of the blue. She was trying to get the blanket over her head one day, and looking at me, so I put it on her and that was that. She knows what "want your blanket" means she gets excited. Very strange..

The other one usually lays on her head on her and it looks like she's on a pillow. They always cuddle when they sleep.

6. Thanks...
I figured it out cuz she was trying to get her head under the blanket, and pawing at it. It was a crazy guess, that happened to be right. She thinks she a person...she likes pillows too...

7. I had a cat that would only sleep under a blanket, he was a lump also.
Same thing with newspaper, had to crawl under it.

17. I miss the lump.
He died last year about 25 years old.

He was my bottle fed kitten.

He is buried in the yard.

Your doggies are cute.

18. I'm sorry...
Wow he lived a long time. It's so hard when they go, and you never get over the loss. It's especially hard if they're "special needs" I think there's a bond that you don't have with other pets. Not that you love them more, it's just different.

My first Boxer was born very small, the vet didn't think she would live. I bottle fed her, let her eat mushy food right from my hand. Anything to keep her healthy. She developed a seizure disorder, and died when she was 4 during a seizure. I took that loss harder than any other, I think because she really shouldn't have lived but did.

Less than a year later I lost my cat. Not as old as yours, about 13 he was a stray and found us. Showed up on my deck on day, I opened the door fully expecting him to run, but instead he waltzed right in and rolled over for a belly rub. He was the best cat I ever had.

20. There is a strong bond with a animal that is bottle fed.
He grew into a big healthy cat.

He died in my arms at home, the circle was complete.

He had a good, long life.

I had him for almost half of my life.

12. I'll try.
It's crazy because, unlike your dog, you can't tell sometimes when my dog is inside the pillow case because she is so small.
I almost step on her! (The pillow is on the floor, and then she buries herself inside!)

14. Oh no...
I hope your don't step on her! My mom had Chihuahuas, little spitfires. They would bury themselves in the crooks of my moms arms and sleep, and boy could they snore! LOL!

13. My cat loves to be under the covers with me
He'll crawl in while I'm lounging in the morning, and will stay there for hours after I leave. It's pretty important to remember not to toss things onto the bed...

21. You have no idea how happy i was to click on this thread and have it NOT be about cancer.
When i hear the word 'lump' it's the first thing I think of these days. x(

My cat sleeps under the blankets with me every night. He just pokes his head out and uses my arm or shoulder as a pillow. :)

22. My cat does this.
When my bed is unmade (which is most of the time) I play "Poke the Lump" until I get the solid one that moves.

cover her nose. She likes the other dog to curl up next to her, too! Aren't dogs great? :hi:

26. I thought I lost my cat once....
Edited on Sat Jan-29-11 02:13 PM by GoCubsGo
One day, several years ago, I couldn't find him. I checked the house over top to bottom three or four times with no luck. I called him and called him. He wouldn't come. I shook the food and treat canisters, no response. THAT is what got me really worried, as he was such a chow hound most of his life. I thought maybe he somehow got outside. So, I went into my bedroom to get a pair of shoes to put on so I could go out and look for him. As I bent down to pick up my shoes, I noticed this dirty black nose within the folds of my comforter. (Yes, I am a lazy ass and didn't make my bed that day.) He had climbed underneath, and stretched himself out to where he didn't make a lump. He's lucky I didn't sit on him. Now, he doesn't like being under the covers. Which is somewhat odd, as he's down to skin-and-bones due to kidney disease. Right now, he's basking in the sunshine. I may join him. :-)

The main problem is the other dog will try to dig him out if she notices him under the blanket.
