"These days the name Tanganyika is used almost exclusively to refer to the lake."

9. This brings up a question: Why are all of earth's major land masses vaguely triangular?...
...and why are they all oriented pointy-side to the south?

Maybe you need to ask the leaders of Gondwanaland about their ulterior motives when they broke it all up...

6. That eliminates any and all (map) projection error
Plus you get an analemma. You can't really navigate without an analemma.

14. Heh!

Reminds me of a German comedian who did some voice-overs for GPS. One choice was 'Hitler,' and it was always like: 'Turn right! Turn right' A good German always turns right!'

18. My default is Verdana.
I might not like Microsoft at all, but I think Verdana is a great font for internet use. Helvetica is great for print short paragraphs.

And no, I'm not required to use Swiss typefaces. What do you have? One of these?

:P
