MORRO BAY, Calif. -- Fitness guru Jack LaLanne (lah-LAYN'), who inspired television viewers to trim down and pump iron decades before exercise became a national obsession, has died at age 96.

My mom used to watch him, and exercise with him while she watched his show...

He sure did have great innings...

I remember exercising with him via TV when I was a kid.

I remember his TV show from the 60's, and would occasionally see him in a cameo or birthday stunt and think, wow he's still alive, quickly followed by wow, he looks good for 70-80-whatever.

11. My wife heard him speak a few years ago.

She said he was a real character.
