Time traveler caught on film

“Reopening of the South Fork Bridge after flood in Nov. 1940. 1941 (?)”

It’s the short description for the photograph shown at the virtual Bralorne Pioneer Museum, from British Columbia, Canada. The image can be seen specifically on this page (scroll down to the middle), among other items of the online exhibit. Did you notice anything out of place? Or perhaps, out of time?

The man with what appears to be very modern sunglasses seems to be wearing a stamped T-shirt with a nice sweater, all the while holding a portable compact camera!

1. I remember seeing this one a few years ago.
There's an everyday explanation for all the elements, although the combination is unlikely. Maybe just an unusual wealthy person of the time.

2. For god's sake Lyle! WTF
These assholes who leave the guild and think they can go on their own just ruin it for the rest of us. Notice how neuro-impaired here, dresses out of synch? Idiot probably thought he would just take everything, so if he ended up in the Paleolithic Period, he would have some fur. Or in the 1982, the sunglasses. But this lack-a-brain just wears everything, like no one would notice? And who the hell needs a photo of a bridge?

17. People will start questioning the very fabric of existence!
Series Ms froggie, if the rumors of time travel are substantiated, verified and qualified, Steve Jobs is going to have some explaining to do.

4. The light is coming from a different source than it is for the rest of the crowd.
His ear casts a shadow on his face. The rest of them have fully illuminated cheeks. He doesn't belong there because he was added later.

the 'time traveler' theory was debunked somewhere on teh internetz - the guy's letter sweater, zipped cardigan, and glasses are of the period for a college-age athlete.

8. Very good explanation crikkett
Sounds both logical and plausible. There is no reason to ask why this kid is taking pictures of a bridge, no reason at all. And if it is on teh internetz, you know it is true.

Bridges open with ribbon-cutting ceremonies and people take photos of the people with the scissors.

20. This would just be funny if you hadn't included the snark comment
Mea culpa, I have been goofing off in this thread, pretending that time travel is real and in full swing. Sorry, I was including your post in the misinformation/disinformation category of hiding teh "truth", sorry. But no snark, I am not a moron.

13. You forgot to add "I can tell from the pixels"
The shadows are pretty consistent there, actually. If you want to see a real time traveler picture (moving picture) check this out. It's bogus, too.

14. Durr. If you time travel, your number one priority is not getting caught in the historical record.
Edited on Tue Dec-28-10 04:31 PM by Bucky
Now, I'm not talking about that "don't change the past" malarkey. After all, if you do go back and effect events, there's already a record of it, because it's already happened. Like that time I went back and accidentally shot Lincoln. Thank God I was able to pin it on one of the locals (John Wilkes Booth--sort of the Stephen Baldwin of his day).

15. since we're speaking in hypotheticals now, if you're still testing out said time travel device
you wouldn't set your first trip to be the middle of Tienamen Square right as the guy is standing in front of the tanks. 1) you don't want to end up in a Communist Chinese prison for 40 years and 2) you don't want to drop in the middle of 10,000 people and find out your right arm is now sticking out of your left knee. So if this is a "time traveller" perhaps they thought they were picking a random enough place to drop into and then walk around so as to not draw any attention.

21. Or: "1940's Hipster caught on film. 21st century fashion stereotypes called into doubt!"
Contrary to what Hollywood tells us, not everyone in the 1940's wore hats and jackets.
