someone entered a property damage claim on my house . . . WTF?
Edited on Tue Nov-30-10 04:58 PM by Bertha Venation
An Allstate agent called me today about a claim made on my homeowner's policy. A woman named Sara H------- entered a claim yesterday at 4:15 PM, saying there was roof damage and water damage in the kitchen due to rain.

What the fuck? There is nothing wrong with my house and I don't know any Sara H-------. I googled Sara H------- -- nothing.

The agent said there's actually a phone number, an area code 724 number. The agent called the number and the person she talked to said "I have no idea what you're talking about." I googled the phone number, and it is listed to a Thomas H------- but the fifth and sixth letters of the last name are different.

What the hell is going on here? All I can think to do is to call the number and ask if that person has any friends, family, or enemies on my street.

Any thoughts?

1. Either an attempt at insurance fraud or
someone at the call center doesn't speak English (imagine that!) and screwed up the claim.

2. did they try to make a claim on your policy
or did someone else take out a policy on your house in an attempt to commit insurance fraud?

3. Area code 724 is Western PA, and it's been raining like crazy here the past few days.
So I can see someone in this area making a claim for damages. Perhaps your policy numbers just got mixed up somehow? Weird story.

5. I guess that's a possibility.
I suppose I should call this Sara person. I dunno.

7. I was thinking the same thing
but then why would Sara H. not know anything about the claim when they called the number?

6. Can you call the Allstate agent back
and put it in their hands so you don't have to worry over it? It's their customer, as I see it, or maybe I'm confused. It IS a weird story.
