Winter BBQ in CA failed
The gas ran out, and when I plugged in my new gas tank, it didn't work. No gas flowing, no sparker sparking, no heat to grill the little baby back ribs

It was sad - I transferred to the kitchen, and use the oven - with smoke tube - and it was not BBQ

Sure, it was oven smoked back ribs, but it wasn't BBQ

WAH!

1. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

You don't have any furniture you could have busted up to make an ember cookfire?
.

.
.
REAL BBQ aficionados only buy furniture made of mesquite wood, for just this sort
of unexpected disaster.

6. We had friends who would burn furniture in their fireplaces....
...ew, ew, ew...creepy vapors.

One friend had his headboard nailed to the studs in the wall so his mates
wouldn't burn it.

7. This made me laugh!!!!

Then I laughed harder as I remembered (thank goodness for long-LONG-term memory) that
some of my visitors had been nailed BY the stud in the BED).

Legend in my own mind and such.

2. That's what you get for riding a bike.
When that happens to me, I just pop open the hood on the old F150 and throw those ribs on the exhuast manifold. They're a little rusty tasting, but tequila deals with that.

4. Eh, I'll just use my charcoal grill
Sure it's not really BBQ, but whatever.

5. To BBQ aficionados, charcoal is necessary for "real" BBQ.
Gas grills are for grilling and they're great at it -- IMHO they're easier for grilling than charcoal grills. One can add wood chips to create a little smoke in a gas grill, but for the purist that doesn't cut it. BBQ needs wood smoke and lots of it.
