I did a bit of proper re-shelving at Borders....
I know I am a bit late, but it still felt good to do it.

1. That's good, because the booksellers don't have enough to do during the holiday rush.
Reshelving witty customer jokes is always a pleasant diversion.

13. Thanks Mr. Buzzkill...
:hide: If the staff has a problem they can hire me, I could really use a job.;-) Besides knowing the employees they more than likely got a kick out of it. And coming from someone that worked in retail an customer service most of my life, I can say it's the witty jokes that do actually offer a pleasant diversion. Unlike such that open up a sealed package of ice cream, take a scoop out, and close it up an put it back.

15. Pfffft
As a former bookstore employee, I can assure you that most bookschleppers are raging liberals and LOVE this kind of thing. They're reshelving all the time, mostly because people are too lazy to return a book they decide against buying to the place they found it (or hand it to one of the workers). Better this than discovering a half-eaten scone behind the mysteries...or pr0n in the children's section (yes, it happens way too often).

2. That 30%-off tag cracks me up. As much as he worships money & gets off sticking it
to the little people, the discount must be out of desperation.

I especially like the placement next to Manson.

11. Actually it's standard Borders practice to push sales of expected bestsellers,
They mark down to drastic loss-leader pricing the things they hope will sell well, in the hopes you'll buy something else while you're in store. (I read somewhere they make like 25% of their money on the dumb stuff and discount press books they make you labyrinth through in the check-out line.

If you and say 50 other people made an effort to go in daily and buy up all the loss-leaders and nothing else, you can put the average corporate bookstore out of business in the span of months.

8. I tried to do it this weekend but the lady shopping in the true crime section...
wouldn't go away.

I think I tossed the book into the Gay & Lesbian studies and left.

9. huh, missed that. I was too busy being exasperated by them thinking that
suspense books are "mysteries." Only 10 percent of what they had in the mystery section were actually real mysteries. Sigh.

Sorry, just one of my pet peeves. All the more reason to go to my fave indie mystery bookstore.
