My grand daughter
is having her first birthday this weekend. She has so many toys at home and my apartment that I do not know what to get her. My living room is looking like a pre-school as I also have an almost 3 yr old grandson.

I'm thinking clothes, a trip to the zoo with grandma or a story on a disc that I make for her. I just don't know. I'm also thinking next month is Christmas so don't want to go overboard. Any ideas? My creativity is leaving me.

2. Something personal like the zoo trip or the story on disc sounds perfect.
Her world is pretty simple at that age and attention from her family is the best gift she can get.

3. Does she have some of these books?

Thinking about what my son (now 16) liked, I remember he had a book like this. I have a photo I took of him studying it, with great concentration, when he was about 1 1/2.
The reviews indicate other children love these books, too.

4. how about starting a tradition of keepsakes for her?
She won't see the value of it now, but certainly would when she's older. I know a woman who built a set of monogrammed sterling spoons for her granddaughter one year at a time. Something that will hold its value or be particularly nice to have as an adult woman would be thoughtful. You could do that in addition to having the experience together.

And consider yourself lucky to have two grandbabies in your home regularly. :-) Precious angels.

5. Do you have a cell phone that will make video? If so, I'd do the things you suggest:
Read her a story, take her to the zoo, love her up as you always do, and have someone use the cell phone to make video of it. That will be very, very precious to your granddaughter one day.

7. Thank you for your suggestions
I'm not sure what I am doing to do yet. I do like the idea of taking her to the zoo and putting that on video. Her grandpa is willing do join us. She has as many books as toys - not sure what books are in her library.

I will keep you posted.

8. A trip to the zoo or bath toes. Rubber duckies usually go over quite well.
