1. I've never given serious "decision" thought to what I'd name a boy, but if I had ever had a girl...

2. Scarlet Begonia it is!
Oh heck, now I gotta go listen to Old Dead all day. Well, it'll take the edge off this miserable election.

Franklin?

3. Tell your wife that you know a Bertha
so she doesn't think your daughter (if a girl) would be all alone in the world.

Good luck with the naming. :)

was our governor and I said HELL to the NO.

Good for your wife, kids have to live with the shit we do.

I almost named my oldest daughter 'Amber Rose'--Hey I was very young. I changed it to 'Lisa Ann'.

My son I wanted a 'Billy'-- so I named him William. That Billy thing? Didn't work out well. His middle name is 'Cain' NOT from the bible but from Steinbeck's "East of Eden" Oy Vey. They survived it.

(By the way, I'd avoid Anita for girls as well--that one is trouble. I know a guy by the last name of Dick, and that is his future wife's name. Yes I'm quite serious)

7. I liked Dylan for a boy too, but my wife wouldn't have it.

I also wanted to do a nice Irish name, like Finn or something, but my wife, who is Jewish, already took my last name, and the kid has it too, so she said I had to give her something and not go completely shamrock-laden with the name. Fair enough.

I like Cash for a boy. You could even combine two of your ideas -- name him Cassius but use Cash for a nickname.

As for Hunter, despite my avatar picture, there's no freakin' way I'd name my kid after that lunatic. ;)

As for the Dead names, I never really considered that for my boy (I liked Cassidy for a girl, though.), but we do have two cats -- Casey Jones and Stella Blue.

On edit: I also wanted -- so, so badly -- to have my son's middle name be "Danger," so he could honestly say "Danger is my middle name." But my wife even nixed that. Darn it!

18. Coincidentally, that also describes what my wife did when I brought up the Danger idea.

19. My daughter DID use it as my grandkid's middle name.
Figured it would help him when he's a teenager.

8. I'm particularly fond of "Thrognor, Chancellor of the Grasslands".
And make it normal and natural that the kid demand everyone say the entire thing, every time they address him/her.

No one can call the child "Throggy" for instance, lest they be banished to the center of the great desert to the east.

What the hell. Give it a whirl.

12. Yeah, the baby names can cause some conflict
Seriously. I think I first realized the true nature of my kids' father when he started coming up with these out-there, absolutely unacceptable names for our kids.

Thank goodness I was the one who filled out the birth certificates. Those kids should be thanking me every day for the rest of their lives.

My (shudder) favorite name for a kid was Nancy Ann Cianci.

Poor thing.

20. My grandmother's first name was Bertha. When she was 4 years old, in 1903, she demanded
that her teacher call her Adeline (her second name). I'm just saying....
