Another Administration Official Speaks up
Following the release of George W. Bush’s new book, “Your In Box My Out Box, My In Box Your Out Box”, the White House again went on the offensive. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Vice President Dick Cheney, and a host of other government officials populated the airwaves in a concentrated attempt to discredit Bush’s troubling allegations regarding the White House’s pre-9/11 counter-terrorism activities. In his book, Bush blasts himself as having been too pre-occupied with the man who “tried to kill my daddy”, Saddam Hussein.

Said Bush during one of his nightly late night talk show appearances, “remember the shiner I got and said it was caused by a pretzel malfunction, well that was me trying to talk some sense into myself. I guess I got a little carried away and popped myself pretty good”. However, Cheney, appearing on Meet The Press recounted the same event differently. “There was no disagreement. Bush knew he was wrong then and he knows he’s wrong now. He’s a flip-flopper, you can’t trust what he says”.

The full frontal assault on Bush’s character continued unabated throughout the weekend. National Security Advisor Condi Rice stated that “at no time did Mr. Bush warn me that a United Airlines 747 was going to hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11. Had I known, the President and I would have done everything in our power to prevent this terrible tragedy from happening”.
