3. As 15 year old girls we were all going through a beatles phase when John Lennon was killed.

I remember my friend Pam balling her eyes out in biology class. And there were people there going "why is she crying, she didn't even know the guy".

4. Wow, same with me

I was 14 and in my sophomore year. I had "discovered" the Beatles when I was in eighth grade and was in the full throes of latter-day Beatlemania when John was killed. I took it hard--REALLY hard--for a damn long time. I had lots of other friends who were Beatles fans too--lots of tears in school that day and in days to come.

7. John Lennon is my biggest musical idol of all time. I have a

connection with him that I can't explain. I'm going to you tube his music right now. My God..A Day in the Life is my favorite song of all time.

14. Discovering el beatles was very real for us. Mind blowing. Of course we had the red and blue best of

albums instead of abby road albums and such to get into the beatles. But we were so amazed at their talent, productivity and cuteness. We didn't care they hadn't been together for 10 years. And it was very sad that the brilliant mind that wrote "imagine" was killed in such a wasteful manner. Just as Double fantasy came out.

9. Guys, it's amazing to me to see each generation discover the Beatles. And especially Lennon.

I'm 10 years older than y'all, I was in England on December 8, 1980 just 8 days from my 26th birthday. We were all so devastated: it seems John had just resolved a lot of conflicts and was ready to move onto a new perception. He was stable with Yoko and Sean, he was getting back into playing music--only to have it all ripped away by a crazed psychopath.

When you're young, you think of doing something that people will remember for hundreds of years. Naturally, most of us end up only remembered by our families, but every once in awhile you get to ride the Golden Wave of a phenomenon that will be embedded in our species for centuries to come. The Beatles are that phenomenon: look how the kids who were your age when Lennon was shot love them like we all loved them. I "got a feelin'" music students will be studying The Beatles right alongside Mozart and Beethoven into the next millennia.

11. My nephew who is in his 30's adores John Lennon. I work

at a college and I'm amazed at how many young folks in their' 20's totally get and love him. His music is transcends generations.
