1. I don't know why,
but that lyric came into my head the other night. Maybe because its pronunciation and meaning is so unintelligible.

4. Balls. Any song covered by Manfred Mann is suspect.

5. What is "blinded by the light" about, anyway?
Edited on Fri Sep-24-10 04:30 PM by carlyhippy
I always thought it was about a celeb trying cocaine. I just don't see ole Bruce writing a song about that....

7. blinded by the light, revv'd up like a hot rod...probably about being out and being psyched
and into what's going on, stepping back and watching for a moment instead of being fully present.

From those two lines; I haven't really dug in so I can't say

I agree with others here; it's a good song and more than a lyric malfunction keeps it attractive.

8. I always thought he was mispronouncing "duce"
and pictured Mussolini hanging by his neck, "another runner in the night." Misunderstood lyrics!

My wife and I crack up every time that song comes on the radio.

10. It's "cut loose like a deuce"
as recorded by Bruce.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blinded_by_the_Light#Lyrics

The Earth Band's recording of the song features several changed lyrics. The most prominent change is in the chorus, where Springsteen's "cut loose like a deuce" is replaced with "revved up like a deuce."

This is commonly misheard as "wrapped up like a douche." Springsteen himself has joked about the controversy, claiming that it was not until Manfred Mann rewrote the song to be about a "feminine hygiene product" that it became popular.
