2. So long as that line doesn't start with, "Pilot to tower," I'm ok with it.

5. Eh, he was Russian...ever drink with those guys?
I was under the table inside an hour while they went on to write plays, stage a ballet, and pen novels exceeding 13,000 pages.

And how many more stereotypes can I pack into one post? :P

8. Ever drink with those guys?
Ugh ... It was a Sunday morning, Gorbachev was in power but the USSR still stood. There was this group of Communist youth I had to meet and guide around Zurich with a pal of mine to explain to them the basics of our 'Switzerland With No Army' movement.

So we walked to a bar, loud music playing at 9 a. m., and while my pal and I ordered a coffee, they started the morning with beer. They hardly listened to us but just enjoyed being privileged enough to have traveled there. After third rounds of beers we offered them to go to a leftist community center to meet other people, but they weren't really up to it.

Instead, they invited us back to their hotel room. As we got there, they all got these cute Vodka bottles out of their suitcases, grabbed the glasses from the bathrooms and filled it up high to have a toast with us. And another one. And then some more.

I was drunk at noon, and so was my pal.

11. That was clearly weird.
Four guys, only one spoke English (which was the language we talked in,) the others keeping awfully quiet. At least, I brought some Soviet cigarettes with me. It was really bizarre.

Not as bizarre when I met a janitor of an apartment complex in Zurich who once was a colonel in the Red Army. *That* was really bizarre.

12. I live for encounters such as those.
Some of my best memories are of random encounters with seriously serious people. You're ok as long as they never realize that you're inwardly laughing at them.

Once they find that out the real fun starts....

7. That's nice, but could you make a post that doesn't trigger
a request to set a cookie from some unknown site?

Thanks.
