How did Blofeld die? (If he did)

In the James Bond books/movies, Blofeld was the best Bond bad guy.

So did he die?
If so, how?

In the movies, (specifically, "For Your Eyes Only,") he was dumped, wheelchair and all, from a helicopter down a very tall smokestack.

In the books, he is strangled by Bond.

i was using my memory and then i checked i was 99%right and added remote control
bond gets control of a remote control helicopter blofeld is going to use to kill him and in the ensuing chaos blofeld ends up droppped down a chimney
he is presumed dead
