43. i love the way he explained his style of bass playing
he'd been a drummer but upon moving to London, working in a music store, he didn't have access to a drum kit and his bandmate had one.

so because he could practice on a bass guitar at work, he learned that.

then he explains that he is a drummer at heart and was basically playing the bass like the drums.

fascinating.

47. In the '70's, we just called it a '45 insert or adapter. Most record players had a pop-up ring.
Around the thin post for the LP, there was a 1/2" tall disc that would pop up (if I recall, just by pushing on it), and go back into recessed position by pushing it again. Some of them came with a slide-over disc that had its own storage location in the corner opposite the needle.

46. Hell yeah! I've got a shitload of them - and 45's to go with them.
I've also got a high-end Technics turntable (the kind with the strobe speed adjustment), and just for the record, a LaserDisc player. The 8-track tapes are either in the master bedroom or in the basement, but that's the one kind of player I don't have hooked up right now (all through the same amp), despite having two or three that still work. Five or six if you count portable and auto units. I don't have a reel-to-reel, though. Never did.
