1. Other: AC and ceiling fans.
At least I *think* it helps to circulate the air. Makes sense to me anyhow.

3. AC is a lot more expensive.
I use AC and ceiling fans, but as it gets hotter I edge the thermostat higher. It's at 78 at the moment.

4. I just use a window fan at night, when cool air comes in.
Don't have a/c, but from my electric bill (about $40 a month and that is with a dehumidifer in the basement) compared to my neighbors who all have a/c ($200-400 a month), you don't have to be a math genius to determine how much electricity a/c is using. During the day (when not at work like now), I use a damp cloth to keep my face, neck, arms, legs cooled down. I know, everyone thinks it is strange, but it does work. I also sit outside a lot, have planted lots of trees and bushes and it is relatively cool out there.

For everyone who cares, I live in W PA and it has been a really hot summer here. Sometimes it has been hotter here than in Houston, where I used to live (and would have paid whatever it took to have a/c).

Seriously - I advocate fans and ceiling fans.

7. Tips: Don't chew bagged ice, it'll break your molars.
And, actually, keep the thermostat at 80 instead of 78. It really feels cool andsaves footprints.

8. SWIMMIN' HOLE!
But only sometimes. Usually I use the fan or stick my head in the freezer. Good times...
