Can't stop thinking about my wedding week!!

I can't stop thinking about it!

We're getting married on September 9.

My sisters arrive at 4:45 PM on the 8th, at Dulles.* We ought to be home from Dulles by 8:00 PM (rush hour traffic, and we're 1.5 hrs from Dulles with no traffic). They're staying at a hotel very near our house. My best friend and his partner arrive the same evening and are staying at Dupont Circle.

The next morning we'll have a nice breakfast with my sisters, with mimosas (except for me, the driver), then go into town. We'll park at my office (nowhere to park near the courthouse) and take a cab over to the courthouse. We'll wait outside the courthouse for our matron of honor, best man, and guests to arrive, then go en masse into the marriage bureau.

We'll be married. !!! I can't imagine what that will be like, but I'm going to have to glue her ring to my fingers so that I don't drop it because I know I'll be shaking.

Then we'll go to Mike's American in Springfield, my favorite restaurant, for a celebratory lunch. Then back home to veg. If the weather's nice, we'll sit out on the deck with glasses of wine, have a nice dinner out there, relax . . . sigh.

The next day, Friday, we'll go into town to do "the tourist thing." Hopefully my best friend and his partner will want to go with my sister and me on a Segway tour. Sister and I have done it before and it was the most fun she's ever had and the second most fun I've ever had.* God DAMN, those things are fun!!

Saturday will be spent vegging and preparing for Sunday's celebratory party (not "reception," just party). It'll be a cookout at the home of Mrs. V.'s best friend. Gotta shop; gotta make potato salad and cole slaw and broccoli salad. Mrs. V.'s gonna grill chicken to serve cold (she'll grill burgers at the party). We'll make the day gay with eats & wine. My sisters and I & Mrs. V. always have a terrific, hilarious time together.

Sunday will be the party. PAR-TAY!!

Monday my sisters go home. :(

I can't wait for all of this to happen. Most of all, I can't wait to be married to the love of my life. She is my dream come true. I've been fortunate to be a part of her life for ten years and am looking forward to being part of it for as long as I live. I adore Mrs. V. and can't wait to wear her ring.


* For those who don't know, we live in Charles County in Southern Maryland, about 35 miles south of Washington, DC.
