Everyone will get $20K from the gummint for their weddings. They do not have the option to say 'no' to this money, they do not have the option not to spend it, they do not have the option to spend any of their own money. Heck, maybe we'll even set up government wedding halls that everyone will have to use to entertain the 150 guests (no more, no less) they are required to entertain as part of the government's new WPA (Weekly Party Attendance) program.

A car in every garage, a chicken in every pot, a party every Saturday night, and a $20K wedding.

1. That's one way to employ masses of people,
so long as they're in the catering and pastry businesses ;)

Although I suppose you'll need valet parking, too :D

2. Don't forget musicians. And clergy. Also, IIRC, sometimes people like to hire
a few guys to hold shotguns

3. Usually the father of the bride takes the role of holding the guns.
So, unless they need backup or just a nice photo-op, you'll get that 'service' for free :)

Are clergy actually paid for such thing? I know you have to pay a fee for a Justice of the Peace, but that's just on the grounds of the courthouse. That's it! Make these venues also part of the courthouses and save money on the clergy :D

4. It's customary to pay clergy, I think. And even if it's the father of the bride
holding the shotgun, why shouldn't he get paid?

5. Okay, I gues someone has to pay for the shotgun shells,
whether they're used or not.

Shouldn't a shotgun wedding be held in a shotgun shack, though?
