1. However,
what I read on Stormpulse shows the predicted strength of Bonnie not getting higher than a Tropical Storm, so really no need to worry. 50-mph winds at best.

2. No need to worry? It is going right through the oil spill area.

4. As have thunderstorms and other low-pressure areas already.
The damage to the coasts is done. This is not the kind of storm that will make things worse. A Category-2 Hurricane would be something to worry about.

5. Yes, but this is a named tropical depression
I think it's a bit more serious than a thunderstorm.

6. It's a named Tropical Storm, not a depression,
and it's not going to get any stronger than a Tropical Storm. That is, not a Hurricane. It's not likely to make things any worse than they already are, as far as the oil spill goes.

The other thing to remember is that the predicted path is likely to change. Those computer models can be close, but too often they change, with landfall usually moving eastward the closer in time that they get to actual landfall.

Then again, I'm not an alarmist at heart and why I don't see this as all that serious.

3. It's hitting the Senators blocking climate change legislation.
They deserve it.
