My Stupid Cocktail recipe rant
From time to time I have a bonanza of some ingredient (like fresh lemons or a fruit juice), and I get the itch to make something boozy and tasty from it. What to make? Simple - just Google it!

What pisses me off is how many recipes on the internet require you to have on hand some ridiculously pretentious or obscure ingredient to complete the drink.

Today's example. I got myself some Tropicana pink grapefruit juice the other day. Now I know how to make a Greyhound - a simple combination of Vodka and grapefruit juice. I got crazy and did a Gin variant, and then tried it with some Angostura bitters added. All very nice.

I've still got over 1/2 the juice left, so I figured I'd look for other cocktails with grapefruit juice as an ingredient. Here are some of them, with the dumbass ingredient that Cocktail Blocked me:

Christi Extreme - lingonberry syrup. Fuck you!
Blushing Lady - OK, I'm having trouble enough with the name, but Pomegranite Liquer? Fuck you!
Jet Pilot - cinammon syrup. Never even seen that before!
Kyoto Sour - agave nectar. Yeah, I think 7-11 has that.
Rhyme & Reason - Boca Loca Cachaca. Go to hell!

1. How are they supposed to know
that you don't have that ingredient. Some people do look up recipes before they go shopping. If you don't have something, just stick with the simple two ingredient cocktail. It ain't worth getting all worked up over, really.

3. Whiskey Sour. Half whiskey, half lemon juice and sugar to taste. Packs a punch!

5. You seriously don't have agave nectar? I thought everyone these days had agave nectar.
Maybe it's a Texas thing.

It tastes basically like any syrup, although with a slight non-alcoholic tequila-ish sharpness. Just use maple.

6. My solution:
Substitute more booze for the South African Clam Juice Liqueur that you don't just happen to have on hand.
