I'm so bored, I am reading tabloid trash
about Kim Kardashian.

I don't even know who she is (yeah, the name sounds familiar, but I don't know). But I believe I've reached an all-time low in my life.

Puzzled with the controversy of why her new body suit:

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/Media/slideshow/catsuits-call-stars-7682749

is considered any more revealing than a swim suit

Our society is so weird. Really.

Maybe I'll go back to watching weather stories. Already finished watching the Weather Channel's special about the Dust Bowl. I'm so pathetic. :-(

6. That must be very muggy, too
We are only at 37% humidity. 97f. I shouldn't complain. I know it could be worse.

Take it easy out there! :hi:

27. LOL, my 5 ft 8, 125 lb daughter and I were walking to our car
and this older, slightly heavy set woman looked at my scantily clad daughter..then she looked down at herself in a top that was exposing her mid drift...I saw her try to pull the shirt down over her belly. I felt so bad for her..wanted to say "try living with her" and "I know the feeling".

22. I hear that...
Edited on Sat Jul-17-10 07:15 PM by rainbow4321
(waving from Plano)...I did go see a movie today but it takes ALOT to get me outdoors on the weekends nowadays. I've even let my daughter take our only car to work on the weekends most of the time cuz I have no desire to go outdoors or drive anywhere. You see the 10 pm weather the other night? It had Burleson with a "current temp" of 101! At 10pm.
My relative lives in Oklahoma and is a realtor..she's having to deal with an out of stater wanting to look at houses at NOON and 1 pm..and then the person bitchs about being HOT. Dumb shit. The person is from the Northwest US and is having issues with the Oklahoma weather.

So she left them a note in their mailbox: "We will be starting to look at houses at 9 am on Monday". We will see if the idiots get their butts up and ready by then or if they wait til high noon once again.

24. See, that is why I don't check
Nor do I look at those outdoor bank thermometer clocks when I am driving. Just don't wanna know. A friend of mine has one of those cars that has a built in digital thermometer in it so it is right in your face. I told her that I would have to put duct tape over the damn thing.
And the stupid weather people still act like the temp matter when it is over 100. Guess they have to justify keeping their jobs in the summer.

But fear not, before long we will be hearing the local news stations doing their "breaking news..how to keep your family warm" when the outdoors temps get "down" to 50 degrees. First time I saw that I thought "seriously?? breaking news to tell people to put on a jacket before they leave the house?"
I grew up in NJ but have lived here for 24 years now. I still hate the TX summers.
Wish I was rich enough where I could move north from June til, oh, September.

26. Worst part is, take a shower and feel soooo refreshed
and then the minute you step outdoors, even for a few minutes, and you feel like you have not showered in days...you are all icky again.
I prefer the take a shower and be a couch potato for the day (or, cough, weekend)...cuz it sounds so much better than take a shower and go back to your bed. It's a psychological thing. Couch potato makes it sound less lazy to me.
Or I do the "10 day forecast" at weather.com and go "oh, oh, look, in ten days it's gonna only be 95! And it will be partly CLOUDY in 8 days!". Though that only seems to work in mid to late August when the September "cool front" is heading our way.

9. Ladies?
I feel so guilty, the NW is in a cool down!

My advice to both of you: Pour a pitcher of cold water, step outside and empty it over your heads. Yes it's temporary, but that instant of refresh and chill might help you make through the remainder of the day.

Wishing cooler temps your way. :hi:

14. Salmon dip.
One 4 to 6 oz block of smoked salmon, not the canned stuff! Crumble meat into bowl, remove skin. In a separate bowl, mix equal amounts of sour cream and softened cream cheese. Add a little lemon juice and dill weed, sprinkle a healthy dose of black pepper and throw in a little onion, I use a freeze dried minced kind. Spoon and stir cream mixture into fish gradually, you can always add more if needed but once in, its there to stay, so don't overdue, you can push the desired texture too far. Done right, this stuff will be better the next day and will probably hold up in the fridge for another 3 or 4. Put it on a cracker, in a celery stick, or encase it in a slice of cold beef for surf and turf bites. It's cold and it's filling! Fried chicken goes down well in the heat too, after it spends a day in the fridge. Fruit, fruit, fruit, canned, melons. Don't starve, it'll only give you a headache and make you more uncomfortable.

These are ways to make you cool from the inside out.

13. I lived and worked in D.C for a relatively short time in the 80's...
.
.
.
.
.
...running the gamut in accomodations.
.
.
.
.
.
NW D.C. where a friend was housesitting (about two blocks from
The Watergate... several Rolls Royces in the interior parking
garage).
.
I apartment-sat for 6 months a block or two off Embassy Row --
nice little place.
.
JUST outside of Anacostia (some of the worst ghetto-area in
the U.S.) in a communal group-home (fellow employees of the
nonprofit lobbying group I worked for) in a poor working-class
neighborhood. There's where I learned about "ghetto supermarkets" --
the local one was high-priced and had almost no fresh meats and/or
produce. Truly exploited people who had a hard time traveling long
distances to shop for basic survival commodities.
.
.
.
Heat and humidity? Absolute WORST I've ever experienced -- I'm
reminded of the opening scene in that brilliant classic, "The
Seven-Year Itch" with Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell, where
everyone who CAN flees the city for cooler climes.
.
.
From 101 degree Tucson (where the humidity is a SHYHIGH -- for
us -- 24%)... I send cooling vibes and recommend popsicles and
cold showers for sanity (as opposed to sanitation).
.
:toast:
.
I woulda sent you a hug... but it's too damn hot for that.
.
.
.
.
.
.
OH...and where I knew the name Kardashian from bothered me for
a long, long time... until I remembered some of the most chilling
villains on Star Trek were the Cardassians (sp?).

16. I hate summer weather.
I was doing OK in June, even though it was a hot June. (I'm in PA.) Every day is the same now: Hazy, Hot and Humid. It's going to be like this through the end of the month.

It might as well be the middle of winter, because we can't enjoy the outdoors. I can do about an hour outside in the early morning, then it's indoors until 8 pm. ugh.
