I was sitting in the Love's truck stop in Las Cruces, NM yesterday

eating a sandwich and looking over some truck classifieds. I looked up from the ads and noticed a voluptuous young woman approaching my table- short shorts and a nice tight t-shirt. I looked over my shoulder...yeah, it appeared she wanted to talk to me. :D

She got over to my table and asked, "Do you know how to get to Albuquerque from here?" I guessed that she probably wasn't interested in checking out my rig. :(

"Yeah, just hop on I-10 east and take that to I-25 north. It runs right through Albuquerque," I said. She said thanks and went out to her car with another young woman. But then she came back inside and over to my table again.

"Sorry to bother you again, but which way is east?"

Trying to keep from grinning too big I pointed out the direction. You could see the highway from where we were in the truck stop. She asked me how I knew that. Probably grinning too big by now I told her about the signs on the highway and by the entrance ramps. I don't know how she made it as far as she had. I guess maybe she had never left Las Cruces.

Some towns can really mess up my normally good sense of direction...

And newer cars have a directional gizmo in the rear view mirror. Maybe hers didn't...

6. Reminds me of calling a business in Hemet and asking was it

on the north side or the south side of the street, and the young lady on the phone says, 'depends on which way you are going'.
But I have driven across the country more than once, and after a while, I have forgotten which way I was going.
