Recently, one of our fellow travelers actually started LIVING his dream...

1. I answered this question weeks ago.
The chicken crossed the road to explore Catholicism. (That is meant in the spirit of humor)

Good luck to Sir Tobin, I hope he finds clear roads, happy trails, and dynamic scenery.

The thing I procrastinate the most over is working up the nerve to share a nick name I've bestowed upon one of my favorite DUers here in the lounge. That'd be you.

a rattlesnake under her desk!

Besides, it's not exactly derogatory, she's bound to be disappointed.

well it wasn't as nice as yours, but I'm pretty sure he is proud of it anyway

let me put it this way, MFM is one of the most honorable and ethical people I have ever met. Along with being very funny he can be quite serious and he is REALLY good at bullshit detection. When he has to deal with bullshitters he can be a true asshole - it is really great to watch, but it can make some people uncomfortable (of course they tend to be on the bullshitter side of the human spectrum too, but nevertheless...) We were involved in a political fight at a local community radio station that got infested by bullshitters. Needless to say there is a certain population in the Tucson community that applies that nickname (asshole) whenever they think of him. A nickname point of honor, I am sure. Also he can be one in general sometimes.:P

As a representative of the fairer gender, I guess it's customary for me to use a different word, of which, I'm fond of issuing the following advisory:

"It is not my first inclination to break out my bitchy bone, but should you insist on seeing it, I have one to show you."

18. Awhile back two, maybe three weeks ago. There were no posts
by you for going on a couple of days it seemed, and I heard myself say out loud...

"Where's my Mi Fi Mo!?" I's pronounced as E's. Just an abbreviated form of the handle you use, I see it as an endearment.

See? No naughty mystery here, just a confession of affection for your witty ways.

24. What else would you expect to be called after reattachment surgery?
I thought I was the coolest of Mom's when I took to an expression of describing the enthusiastic as being Gun Ho Mo Fos, but my middle child, the 20 year old, started pretending like she didn't know me in public and stopped introducing me to her friends, so I had to break that habit.

Well Mi Fi Mo, I'll be off! And besides that, I'll be on my way. Morning comes early and I's is tired.

2. Great question!
I did two things. My dream is two-fold: to retire and to own a place at the beach.

I have started saving as much as I can afford for the down-payment on a condo. I don't know if I will ever be able to afford it, but I'm still working toward it. I am even selling stuff on eBay just for that fund. If I never get the condo, I will still have a nice nest egg.

And I went to a retirement seminar to see how soon I can kiss the daily grind goodbye! I am also working toward that goal.

3. What an interesting thought.
Should motives be thought on? Does it contain part of the relevance of some action?

Does intent matter or only effect?

I lean more towards intent not effect, since a person has the ability to control his intent, but effect is also part of other peoples actions.

Also you can be correct on intent and not action, would that be wrong? I don't think so.

What if you are wrong on intent, and end up being correct on action? That is a really deep question, but in some way it would seem it has to do with thinking on what is wrong and right in some way.

to River City and to DU.

Moved here in '86 from L.A. Have a surrogate mom figure from Houston who came to visit a couple of Augusts ago. I remember asking her if the heat was too hard on her, she just laughed hysterically.

I lived in Houston for 32 years and I must admit being a little tickled at the reactions of the local news people during the 'hot snap' (hot flash?) last week when it got ABOVE 90!!! For TWO WHOLE DAYS!!!

I know that to the elderly or those with health issues heat can be deadly, but to me it was just pleasantly warm. Heck, the humidity was only about 20%!

I'll gladly trade 6 months of the 3 H's (Heat, Humidity, Hurricanes) for whatever passes for bad weather here.

:hi:

edit: And I absolutely love the great public transportation here!

23. The max is a gem, and it's still growing, what I like bragging about
is we here are the bike friendliest city in the nation. It is said only the natives complain about how much rain falls here. I must admit, it can get to me a bit, but the deeper dark in the blue sky and the greener green everywhere else wouldn't be what the are without so much watering.

Tell me what you like to do so I can suggest some appropriate sights to see!

26. Oh, I've been told I should go to the coast and that there is a gorge nearby I need to see...
I have already been riding my bike around and have taken it on the train (it's great that you can do that)!

My apartment is about a block from a max stop and right next to a lot of stores, so I'm going to try to drive as little as possible. I only drove about 1000 miles a year in Houston, so I'm sure I can drive that or less here.

I just wish that more cities were as forward-looking regarding public transportation as Portland.

I love everything about the United States -its history, its people and its culture and diversity of lifestyle -and loved my first visit to the United States eight years ago and having been dreaming about going back almost every minute since.

Finally some cheap air fares have come along and I've booked my tickets for early next year. I can't wait?
