10. I am grateful
that I wake up in the morning, I am able to play word games on my computer with the knowledge I still can think, I'm thankful for a healthy and cute grand daughter and grandson, that my adult children found their mojo after many problems, my loving dog who looks out for me, and that I can survive on my present income today so far. I'm also thankful for all the roadblocks that were in my past life that lead to my growth and determination. It were these roadblocks that gave me the fight to perform better. I guess in a nutshell, I am happy where I am in my life. I would love to have more money but that is my problem as I give to those who are worse off than me. There is nothing that I want or need. I am a senior, not rich probably a little below middle class but I am happy.

20. I am grateful for...
My husband finding a job after being out of work for over a year. (found Sept. '09).

That I didn't lose my house because he was out of work.

My parents, who helped so that I didn't lose my house. Without them I would have lost it for sure. They've always been there for me for whatever...not just material things. They never let us give up hope when things seemed so horrible. I'm really grateful for my parents.

My kids, who make me very proud every day.

My dogs, who make me laugh a lot, everyday.

My husband, no matter how tough things have gotten, we've always managed to be there for each other.

27. hmmm
I'm grateful to still have a job, and to like it...even if I've had to take a pay cut.

I'm grateful to have loving, supportive parents.

I'm grateful to have met the love of my life, and that she's happy, even if I can't be with her.

I'm grateful to have good friends.

I'm grateful for the medical advances that may postpone the heart attack that it seems I'm almost inevitably going to have, and that allow me to eat a diet that is only somewhat limited.

28. I won't conform
...and holy crap, have I ever paid the price for that.

I just see it as the ultimate surrender, the ultimate form or cowardice.

There's no value in being a Rebel Without A Clue...just a random asshole who refuses to fit in anywhere.

But on the other hand, when life tells you "this is who I expect you to be" and you look at that person and say "That's not who I am, and I have no intention of becoming him, for any form of compensation," you evolve from sheep to human.

29. This.........
Being Born White, Male, Protestant and Heterosexual in America in 1960 and growing up on campus while Dad attended three Colleges (BA - Indiana University, MS - University of North Carolina and PhD - Tulane)....That accident of birth and being raised with folks studying all around me pretty much resulted in all the subsequent breaks I've had along the way, and for that I know I am lucky as hell and am grateful......Hitting puberty and living in New Orleans, with inattentive parents, in the early 1970s cannot, I repeat, cannot be beat.......

I'm grateful that I could retire in relatively good health.
I'm grateful for the doctors who operated on my wife today and determined that she didn't have ovarian cancer.
I'm grateful for all my friends and family.
I'm grateful for DU. If it weren't for this place I would've gone bonkers during the last administration.
