8. I have read that he's been ill.

My sister dated his son and the lad was at my wedding but I have never met the man himself. Somebody just posted that he has passed away. Ah, that is sad.

7. He hadn't been well for a few years now

but, it was sudden the way he passed away.

As I said above, one of baseball's more prominent larger than life figures from the last half century - the man everybody outside of NY loved to hate.
