New name for "Rust Belt?"

Recently I used the term and someone didn't care for it. Being from the south, I totally understand.

How about "Cold states?" Any others?

Just a guess.

8. I guess it's sort of derogatory but...
I've taken to thinking of it in terms of my muffler lol.

5. I prefer "rust belt" to "bible belt" or "flyover states".
They're all pretty much inaccurate and useless generalizations.

14. I dunno about that.
I live outside Tulsa and Bible Belt is pretty damned accurate for what goes on around here. It's in your face constantly, everywhere you go around here.

7. The Recession Belt formerly known as the Rust Belt
With all the iron and steel and manufacturing plants going out of the country, there's not as much rust as we'd like.

Cold States? Not this week. 90's and high humidity.

13. I live here, don't like the term "rust belt", but it is very appropriate.
Come visit some time and you will know what I am talking about. All the steel plants are rusting hulks. Still there, nothing to replace them. Just in-your-face monuments to what was.
