What mixed drink or cocktail do liberals prefer?
My drinking is limited to tea and herbal iced tea without caffiene, so I am no authority.

I'm thinking RWers would drink cheap beer or bourbon and tap water....are we better than that?

2. I like whiskey sours, but that seems like kind of a Republican drink.
Which is to say, old-fashioned, unimaginative, etc.

22. Nah, I think a Palin voter would more likely choose Bud Light.
Or better yet Coors Light, the RW fundie of pisswater beers (see Pete Coors). ;)

3. This liberal likes the gin and tonic
Edited on Tue Jul-13-10 06:53 AM by Richardo
It's about the only mixed drink I can stomach anymore. No brown liquors for this kid.

...that said, I'm most likely found with a glass of wine or a Texas bock.

24. I used to love tanqueray and tonics
Then I realized all my friends had gin and tonic stories about me. I had to take their word for it because I couldn't remember.

Alas, I had to strike gin off my list. Even one and I lose my memory and apparently my inhibitions too.

It truly was the official drink of summer back in the day! :)

4. I like a cold IPA or a gin & tonic
I wouldn't call Mrs. av8rdave a RWer, but I am FAR left of her. She is fairly knowledgable on wines, and enjoys a good one now and then.

You raise an interesting question though....are stupid/ignorant/racist/intolerant people more likely to drink crappy beer/liquor?

7. Y'all can have that fancy stuff. Just gimme a beer.
I had a really good beer while I was up in Wisconsin called Sprecher I do believe. It was recommended by a fellow DUer who was from Wisconsin. I actually don't have the stomach for liquor. A couple of shots of whiskey makes me feel like I want to hurl.

10. When you go through Eastern PA, try Yuengling's - they make a GREAT dark beer, better than Guiness
IMO...

They are America's oldest working brewery - made ice cream during prohibition.

8. What's wrong with bourbon and tap water?
I actually like that drink, although I run the tap water through my seltzer bottle first and throw in a twist of lemon.

From my observations, alcohol consumption seems to be pretty much non-partisan, although cheap beers seem to sell better down south.

11. Vodka (preferably Stoli or Ketel One, occasionally Grey Goose) with soda and lime.
Rosie's lime juice is a nice touch if you like things a bit sweeter. Sometimes I add lemon and orange slices.

...and got VERY lucky and didn't harm anybody OR myself OR my bike.

But I could have and almost certainly should have.
.
.
.
.
.
So I stopped drinking on the bike.

Drank seltzer water with a tiny spritz of Rose's lime. TASTY...
and very refreshing.

When I drank a "cocktail", it was good Scotch with soda on the
side... both with ice in them.

20. To celebrate a standing Saturday night date with the mate.
It is most often Spanish coffee. This calls for a shot of 151, a shot of Kahlua, and a splash of triple sec (orange liqueur), fill out with coffee and throw on a spoonful of vanilla ice cream. But first, you are required to line the rim of the cup with sugar and light the alcohol for it to blend. We call them fire candy. Summer does come along though, and when it gets too hot, we switch to Strawberry Margaritas, or if there's pizza or hot tub time, we opt for Corona to wash it down or water the insides.

maybe something with curacao, for all the Democrats, something with grenadine for all the socialists? :)

32. Real liberals like what I like - everythng else is crap! And I won't concede bourbon to the wingers
Actually, I suspect it's more regional than ideological in terms of what people prefer to drink, and I also suspect that regional divisions have broken down in recent years as drink trends have spread around the country. However, every region still seems to have a definitive beer or two, and the South is probably ahead in bourbon appreciation...

38. I'm a winemaker but I discovered.....
It takes a lot of beer to make wine. Any cold cheap American lager is more receptive to the work party than the heavier craft ales and lagers during the hot harvest season. Cold is the operative word.

The gin is only broken out once the equipment is cleaned and squared away. The camp is evenly split between 'Gin and tonic' or 'Tinys' (a fifth of gin poured over crushed ice in a large glass pitcher). I like both equally well as long as ALL the work is completed.

The brown stuff only comes out late at night and it is consumed neat.
