Poll question: What's more important to you, health or looks?
Edited on Tue Jun-29-10 02:12 PM by hedgehog
I was talking to my sister the other day and suggested to her that maybe we are meant to get a little heavier as we age. I think it's only in recent years that women in their 50's were expected to have the same figures they had when they were 18! She said she didn't care about her health, she just wanted to weigh the same she did as a teenager.

Now, just suppose for a moment that the statistics showed that you would be healthier if you gained some weight as you age. Would you rather be an active 75 year old chubby or frail 75year old with a great figure?

This isn't about whether or not it is healthier to gain weight; it's about whether we think appearance is or isn't more important than health.

1. I would like to believe that if you feel good, you look good...
and my choice would be the chubby active 75 year old.

2. I am homely but healthy.
While I'd rather be better-looking, staying healthy (as I continue to get older and homelier) is way more important.

3. My dear hedgehog!
Being healthy is way more important to me, esp. as I am old now, than looking good. My looks matter, but not at any cost to my health!

:hi:

4. You can tell your sister no matter how thin she stays,
she's still going to sag when gravity has its way with her body. A seventy year old flat does not the same skin condition as an eighteen year old.
