FIFA president Blatter does a 180 on video replay possibility
Even apologizes to England & Mexico...

>>>>
JOHANNESBURG -- With pressure for video replay mounting after two blatant missed calls at the World Cup, FIFA president Sepp Blatter said soccer's governing body will reopen the issue after the tournament.

Blatter said Tuesday that FIFA deplores "when you see the evidence of refereeing mistakes." It would be "a nonsense" not to consider changes.

The referee at England's second-round match with Germany on Sunday missed a clear English goal that would have tied the score 2-2. Germany went on to win 4-1. Hours later, a referee awarded a goal to Argentina on a play in which goal-scorer Carlos Tevez was obviously offside. Argentina went on to beat Mexico 3-1.

Blatter, who attended both matches, said he had apologized to English and Mexican soccer officials.

1. But Ireland and the US are still waiting
If you're a country where soccer is the top sport, they'll grovel. If you're a country where other forms of football are more popular, you're ignored.

Fuck FIFA.

2. Hopefully so.
And you know there's another referee standing by the coaches who doesn't have much to do the whole game except for when they change a player or add some extra minutes? He could watch out as well and see things the others won't see without compromising the authority of the head referee.

Blatter, FIFA President? It's more like FIFA Dictator.

5. FIFA needs to empty its Blatter
This organization needs some new blood more receptive to either rule changes, technological intervention, or both.

6. Maybe if it had been the Japanese he had to apologize to..
He could have "really" apologized, most sincerely, through honorable seppuku.

They could have told him "Instant replay or seppuku, it's your choice." :nopity: :spank:
