HBO's "Treme" - A Wonderful Love Story to Musicians
I cannot recall any other work of fiction that pays the kind of homage and respect to musicians that HBO's Treme does. It's the kind of show that forces you to read the credits and do research on the bands and the musicians that you see during the show.

And it's not just one group. The show faithfully identifies other styles and acts on a weekly basis. It's truly well made.

1. I love it for the music too
I too think it's a homage to New Orleans music. I look at the credits just to hear the music at the end.

2. I stopped watching
and I have lots of New Orleans in my music collection. I've been there twice, pre-Katrina.

I'm a big fan of the director and several of the actors in this series. Simon's previous series, "The Wire" is the best ever made, in my personal opinion.

My complaints about "Treme':

1) The series is didactic, the point is obvious, slamming the feds and state for the response to the disaster. I got that in the first episode. It is the theme of the whole series, unfortunately, which means the obvious is slammed home over and over and over ...

2) New Orleans has not been a center of musical innovation for at least 50 years. Despite a glorious past history, most of the current music exists to service tourists, so the plight of musicians is a little beside the point, Alain Toussaint, Dr. John, and the Wild Tchoupatoulis not withstanding.

3) Most of the musicians depicted are simply immature and very self-involved. Why should I care about them?

and I think Wendell Pierce and Clarke Peters and Khandi Alexander are fantastic actors. The series is still a snooze.

3.  I liked it when Bill the Vanpire got into a fight with the wherewolf and tore off his leg.
And then Sam turns into a dog and the banjo music comes up when he's running through the bayou!:applause:
