19. Oh, I know it's less hassle on shorter trips. I travel for a living...
and I'd much rather spend 8 hours in a car than 4 hours in airports and wedged in a plane seat.

But when I go to the East Coast, I fly. When it's winter, I fly. I endure the hassle when I have to.

4. Hawaiian!
Consistently among the best on-time performers in the industry (of course, they fly mostly in uncrowded airspace and don't have to fly into blizzards :-) ), plus they fly SJC-HNL!!

6. Braniff just because it was the first flight I ever took
Current airlines, I'd have to go with Southwest. Aer Lingus was the worst. The plane smelled like a major league locker room and the flight attendants were complete assholes.

14. The best experience--service--I ever had flying was Air New Zealand
but that was 16 years ago.

I fly American, Delta, US Air routinely and can't say I like any of them. I do use my frequent flyer
miles to upgrade to business/first class as often as possible, and being able to do that makes
the experience of flying more bearable.

No bag checks. No taking off my shoes to get through security. And the only farts contained in the seat are my own.

32. I used to work for Eastern
Loved them.

Went to work for them in 1979 and planned to retire at age 52. That would've been this year.

Well, we see how that worked out.

33. First started flying on them in '80 as a four-year-old
I really loved the first-class lounges (my dad was a member at the time)...Really plush and I have wonderful memories of them...

and since this post wouldn't be complete without a photo in proper livery:

25. Don't think I have one, actually
I've had good and bad experiences on all of them pretty much. AirTran is the least obnoxious with my travel experiences I suppose, but only cause I've flown on them the least amount of time.

Edited on Wed Jun-23-10 11:05 PM by pitohui
air mad has to get bonus points just for having the nick of air mad (air madagascar)

air mad is kinda like a bus, if someone says they need to get off the next stop, the plane will touch down even if it wasn't scheduled, i guess because of no roads...

its logo looks like a peacock but it's actually the traveler's palm a famous native plant

and some of the airports actually have chalkboards for their "check the monitor" -- it doesn't quite say, jimmy buffet style, "no plane sunday, maybe plane monday" but it's damn close (and in french) if you get in the backwater
