3. Dan Hilliard, played by Fredric March in the 1955 movie
"The Desperate Hours".
Still a chilling and unforgettable flick. It's probably the best role March ever played, and of course the film also had the great Bogart.

5. John Riggs in "Prancer." Andrew McDhui in "The Three Lives of Thomasina." Marlin, in "Finding Nemo."
Naturally all three are widowed, because they are kids films and you have to kill the mom in a good kid film, yano?

7. Martin Crane of 'Frasier'
He is neither the cardboard, perfect ideal of a 50's or 60's sitcom, nor the bumbling, hapless fool of countless others since then. He's a character many can relate to, who at any given moment experiences pride in his children one moment, and disappointment the next, yet you know he loves them regardless. And he's funny as hell.

8. Kyle Chandler from Friday Night Lights

Mostly for hotness, but also it's a terrific (and very underrated) show and he is great in it.
