2 bikes, some new cables, and a day playing hooky.
I took a "day for me" today. So after doing up last night's dinner dishes (Martha doesn't live here)I started tinkering. Then I went to town to buy some new brake cables, a new Sturmy-Archer cable, a coupla spokes (to replace the missing ones) and by 5:00 this afternoon I had taken the 3-speed hub off the $6 thrift shop Puch and swapped it with the Bendix-hubbed coaster brake wheel on the $5 Huffy Sandwich-Runner. Swapped the brakes over to the Huffy, too. Good old-school Weinmann "Made in Western Germany" sidepulls.

And I opened up the hub and serviced it, too. Geez, haven't had a 3-speed spread out in over 25 years (I learned to repair them 35 years ago) Clean, grease, oil...

Just a good day at the Frankenbike castle....

2. Damn, BJ!
Good money that could have been spent in the ham shack. New mouse pad? Feather duster for the old HF rig? Roll of solder? Buck-up buddy. Biking is a summer sport. Ham bands are open year round (OK, OK, but you know what I mean.).

3. Yeah, but when I'm riding or wrenching....
I don't have to listen to some ditto monkey No-Code Extra trying to tell the latest "Klintoon" joke he heard on Hannity but he can't get through it because he's laughing too hard...
