I love Canada

I haven't been here for about 20 years or so. The speed limit is 100 and gas is a buck ten. Other than that it's almost just like the US. Amazingly they drive on the same side of the road and almost speak the same language.

In the suburbs of Quebec City....I was getting gas or something, struggling with halting French (my companion at the time....SHE was the francophone), and was getting the stink eye attitude until the guy saw my Maryland plates on the car and then he asked me, in good English, in which part of Maryland I lived since he had been a student at College Park.....He explained to me he thought I was from Ontario and that was why he just let me try to communicate in crappy French. For the rest of that trip, I tried to speak French (and I got much better at it as the days went by) in as Southern an accent as I could muster without sounding ridiculous.

Anyway, I love Quebec and the rest of Canada too
