A whimsical poem for a Monday afternoon: Clarinets
wrap around my mind
entwine me and my soul
coax me out

let me
dance down this sinuous
road

where am I going tonight
what music is this

whimsical
tuneful

sensual

I’m loving it
are

you

7. Rhapsody in Blue is probably the most famous by Gershwin
I took it to contest one year and scored a 1 which was the best!

The JPS award was way cool, but the only remembrance is the plaque hanging in the band room with my name among all the other winners each year. It is kind of cool!

Here is a link to Gershwin

8. Thanks for the link!
I LOVE Gershwin...

This is a wonderful recording, even if it is old. Apparently he is playing the piano, according to one of the comments...

Priceless!

16. My Dear CaliforniaPeggy,...
Nice one.

Clarinet was the first musical instrument I learned how to play, not because of its tuneful qualities, but because I thought it 'looked cool'.

As far as its inherent sensuality, while some may scoff at that concept, as an eleven year old kid, I was adept at the licorice stick enough to impress my very first girl friend.

Here's to you, Karen C., wherever you are.

17. My dear MilesColtrane!
I'm glad you enjoyed this!

I'm even gladder that you impressed your very first girl friend...

That's not easy, especially when you're eleven.

18. To this day I don't know what she saw in me other than my mad tootling skillz.
Just wanted to tell you that I always read your poems even if I don't post.

Your wordsmithery reminds me of Anne Sexton without the suicidal tendencies.

19. Thank you for telling me...
Now, I'll be able to tell myself that one of those views belongs to MilesColtrane!

And believe me...I am NOT suicidal!

Sometimes my stuff is pretty dark...

I appreciate the comparison, still...
