4. My son upgraded his from OS X-10.4.11 to 10.5.8
Quick downloads... but when we look at YouTube type stuff, some video doesn't play smoothly, and some does. He told me to pause it and let it buffer first before watching.

2. I use Firefox and Safari on a Mac Mini (OS X) and Firefox is much faster.
Don't get me wrong. Safari is a damn good browser, if not entirely up to current standards, but it needs an upgrade.

On Win (whatever) and Linux, Firefox is really the only thing you should use. Chrome is a data gathering device more than it is a browser and IE is just a SCREAMING RED FLAMING SECURITY HOLE begging to be exploited.

6. Apple updated Safari to version 5.0 yesterday for Mac and PC.
It's the primary browser I use on both platforms and it's pretty speedy. There are some benchmark figures floating around that show it's faster than FF at rendering Javascript (which accounts for most browser "slowness" in everyday use).

5. Nope.
The only thing that slows me down at all is Avast and SuperAntispyware loading but it's worth the extra seconds.

8. My Firefox crashes quite a bit
But Stumbleupon does not work with Safari, so I am forced to tolerate the interruptions.

9. All kinds of reasons for that, and I've had problems with all browsers at times...
there are so many strange pages out there and each browser loads and interprets the weirder codes differently.

Personally, I've been using Opera for years, and it always claimed "fastest browser" trophies until recently, when no browser is faster at everything.

Chrome and the latest versions of IE actually seem to be faster loading many of sites where I've bothered to compare.

I suspect Firefox has memory leaks and has become bloated, and that's not helped by all the additions people load on to it. Opera and some other browsers have a lot of that stuff built in and are more efficient because of it.
