1. Forbidden Planet?
Edited on Tue Jun-08-10 06:40 PM by Dr Morbius
They're remaking my favorite movie! I've longed for a remake!

Who will play me - I mean, Morbius?
Will they return the classic scifi standby, the super-short dress on the hot chick?

What about Robby... an update?

Oh, I hope I don't get disappointed again, like with the last six or seven remakes... :)

3. It has been 54 years.
And the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still - which really WAS sacrilege - only made people appreciate the original more. Don't get me wrong, I won't go see it; I never go to movies. But I have to check it out - it's a remake of my favorite movie, of COURSE I have to check it out.

And if you think about it, some parts of the original grate. Like how the only humans seem to be lily-white, and having women along is apparently unthinkable on a long space mission. The too-cute drinking comic-relief bits with Earl Holliman. The isolated scenes where Altaira tames the tiger, and then loses the ability; I get the reference but why is it in the movie? It doesn't connect to anything. And then the fact that the original preceded the computing revolution means it's pretty out of date, especially regarding the Great Machine. I have seen the movie many, many times; I know every word, every scene, and I tell you this: it could stand some improvement.

I would only say they ought to cut-and-paste the still-incredibly-awesome views inside the Great Machine of the Krell.
