My car was gone yesterday when I left my hotel ...
My daughter and three grandchildren (8, 4, 3 months) went down to Ontario Sunday night so we could attend a protest in San Bernardino yesterday, and when we left the hotel to load the car, my car was missing!

Had the front desk check to see if it had been towed and it wasn't so they called the Ontario PD. The officer looked it up on her computer and it had been repossessed the night before!

I bought the car from an ad on Craigslist in May and paid cash. Had my temporary DMV registration (in the car). I bought it from a person who sells repos for a finance company in Glendale.

Turns out the finance company never notified this other repo company that the car had been repo'd and sold!

Took me almost all day to straighten this out and get my car back! A friend came and got us and we had to go get a booster seat and stroller so we could get to the protest (late). To top it off, it was my birthday!

The guy that sold me the car was furious and told me to give him a couple of days and he would make sure I was compensated.

1. Wow, what a story!
I'm glad it worked out for you. Sounds like the car you bought it from is a decent human being.

3. You think someone who sells repos is a decent human being?
We have WAYYYYYYYYY different world views. I really don't like the thought of profiting off someone else's misfortune.

4. They come in all flavors in that business
I met a guy who'd had a (very good) customer's car confiscated by the cops. He had bought it at a dealer auction the week before - And was headed back to the auction to get his customer a better car, to "make it right" with him - and to get his money back from the auction.
