The ones on the market now do. When they were about to be released, an article on them said another manufacturer was going to release a set in the summer (July/August I believe) that won't need glasses.
As for when to buy, wait. Think BlueRay. When it came out the boxes were EXTREMELY expensive and there weren't many titles available. Now it is making the moves to replace DVD as the "normal" player. I've got a BlueRay RW drive in my new PC, but haven't used it for anything but burning backup DVDs yet. I'm still waiting to buy a BlueRay player. No need yet. Hell, I still use VHS tapes.
I've predicted all along and maintain the prediction that the driving force for 3D TV won't come from the movie industry, and in fact they will be reluctant to touch the market for a long time. This Christmas, 3D TV will be the catch-feature for the "must have" game consoles and there will be a shitload of games ready to go along with the sales frenzy. After the game consoles drive the purchase of 3D TVs, THEN the movie industry will see an incentive to start releasing titles in that format. Expect most of them to suck for a while since they'll mostly be old movies recycled to fit 3D format using software.
