7. Charles Higham said so. Others said Flynn wasn't smart enough to be a spy for anyone. nt

8. Film historian friends of mine say Charles Higham is a hack writer
I've never read his book on Flynn, but his Louis B. Mayer biography is full of holes.

11. That is very true.
I've done some work with film biographers and the field is wildly fictional. William Mann's biography of Katharine Hepburn outstanding among those completely fictional. The positive reviews this book generated - from film reviewers - illustrates why film reviewers should stick to reviewing films and leave dealing with 'non'-fiction to those who know non-fiction when they see it.

6. It's a great movie.
Not the best, but quite good. Citizen Kane is up there somewhere; it really is that good. Casablanca, The Godfather; it's tough for me to guess which one truly is the best movie ever made.

Skittles will have a hard time finding me, I'm not quite sorry to say.

12. Certainly when compared to Kostner's shitbucket and the newest abomination of fecal discharge.
Erol Flynn's is fucking classic. CLASSIC!

I also like the version that ended up in ST:TNG episode "Qpid". Pretty funny.

16. I grew up with it in black & white.
When the DVD came out, I finally saw it in glorious Sherwood colour. It's a classic's classic. But that doesn't mean there isn't room for other interpretation of Robin Hood. I like the Beeb's latest series.

And I'll give Ridley's gritty version a chance when the DVD comes out.

**I don't really watch DVD extras, but watched some with Flynn's DVD. Olivia de Havilland was talking about the scene where Robin climbed up the vine to Marian's window for a snog. Olivia had a crush on Errol, so she kept flubbing the shot so she could continue kissing him. In the end Errol's tights were tighter.

18. My vote goes to "Lawrence of Arabia"
Those David Lean epics were hard to beat. And the score by Maurice Jarre is strikingly beautiful.
