1. Never fractured it..
but I do x-ray them all the time. They do take that long to heal. Don't stand on it.. it could delay the healing. :P

Take this episode as an opportunity to relax!

(PS> How bad are you hurting?)

7. Its a pain in the ass kind of ache
not like back surgery; but worse than a hematoma, say.

2. yes, I have
They are serious about no weight bearing. It will take longer to heal and maybe heal poorly if you try to walk early. Your best bet is to do strictly what the doctor tells you and that includes icing it and keeping it wrapped and elevated.

If you aren't allowed to get the cast or dressing wet, go to this site and get a rubber sock. It's a pain but it's so worth it to be able to take a shower and not have to fart around with trash bags and duck tape. http://www.xerosox.com

Good luck.

3. I broke an ankle at age 10 or thereabouts
and even that young it took forever to heal. I hope you're patient :)

5. If they say NO WEIGHT BEARING then honor it
If you bear weight too quickly you place undue stress on the other small bones, along with the triad of ligaments that make up the support for the ankle and if it heals unevenly or results in non union, you will be having surgery and there's no guarantees on results.
