So my friend found this dog wandering on the levee in Algiers last month. It was in a serious state of disrepair, as it had about three inches of bone sticking out of its upper right rear leg, with the rest of the leg missing. A quick trip to the night emergency vet, and $1100 later, and Grace the three legged wonder dog came home with him.



He already had three dogs and lives in a small apartment, so I have agreed to be Grace's foster daddy, until we can find her a good home. Here you can see her stump better. They did a nice job, and once her coat grows back, she will look fine. She's doing pretty good, and getting along well with my girl, Cleo.

3. She's a beauty.

I had a dog who lost a rear leg to cancer. She adjusted very quicky and very well and died a natural death several years later.

Another of his friends was with him and split the cost. I assume he will pick up the next one he finds too. He's a serial dog adopter.:)

5. She has a nice thick, glossy coat and looks well fed

Did the vet think she had been hit by a car?

9. Don't know what happened to her.

It wasn't a recent (within hours) injury, apparently. She's been in good hands for the last three weeks or so, so she is in good shape, weight-wise, and does have a glossy coat. She's a little food aggressive but getting much better. And no heart worm!
