Pictures from my Iran trip, part 3 *PIC HEAVY*
Of course we visited the bazars in the cities we were. Sometimes to buy something, sometimes just to have a look. It was a fun experience. It is not common to bargain in Iran, compared to the Arab countries.

Inside a big bazar in Tehran

Without guide you could get lost

Ahhh ... the smell of the spices ... I loved passing those stores

Spices and beans and lentils

This is also a typical view, men trying to sell veggies and herbs they picked in the fields to survive

Fresh veggies and herbs

He smiled when we said "Merci" after taking the pictures

The meat is arriving

It didn't smell at all. According to our guide they cook a soup out of sheep heads and sheep feet. I did not try it.

VERY colorful clothes

You see they like Disney :)

7. Our guide spoke English
We told her what we wanted, she told the seller, he told her the price, she told us how much we have to pay and helped us picking the correct bills.

11. I didn't buy too much actually
some Iranian rice, some cinnamon, saffron as gift, a woven carpet by and from an old man, pillowcases. That's about it.

Found an Iranian food store in Frankfurt so I now know where to buy the ingredients for Persian dishes :)

When will I check out a Persian restaurant? It will likely have to wait 'til after renfest season when I have my week back to a relatively "normal" schedule. :P

30. Reminds me of the Grand and Spice Bazaars
In Istanbul. Though the Grand Bazaar is gussied up, more for the tourists. The real shops are in the surrounding streets outside. I love the aroma of spice bazaars.

31. The ones we were to
were not for tourists. In Shiraz there was one part that was for tourists but the most parts it was where the people bought their food and clothes and whatever.

Oh I loved the spice areas. The smell ..... Loved it, loved it, loved it.

36. oh my - so gorgeous, colorful - lively!
Those spices are fantastic! Wow - doesn't going to some place like that change how you think of people? We're supposed to be so angry with the Iranians and fear them but when you actually get to experience their world and culture, it doesn't seem so bad and scary.

40. The people are so welcoming
it was a very special experience. I mean I knew that there is a difference between the official picture and the real life but I did not to be welcomed with open arms. The Iranians are so happy to see foreigners in their country, to know not the whole world sees them as the scary people in a scary country.

We were only one day in Teheran, the rest of the two weeks we traveled the west of Iran. Hamedan, Kermanshah, Esfahan, Shiraz, Yazd, Kashan were the main stations of our trip. And of course Persepolis :)

I will post more pictures tomorrow and next week.

Have you been to the Iran?

weird knowing that my drawings are ending up all over the globe in one form or another.

The spice shops look AMAZING! How do they keep those stripped pyramids so perfectly formed?
