is anyone here an HR/health benefits expert/insurance person???....

my husband is getting a new job (yea!!!!)

but the health care stuff is a little complicated...several things to sort through...and more than can be put in a post...
they have several "options", but not major medical.
We can't quite call the HR department...yet...and if you PM me I can tell you why.
Might need to look into buying private health insurance.

I need someone who can look at some of the preliminary health care info stuff we are getting and help me with it...
see if we want to go that route...or
...and help me understand if we can stay on cobra for a while (Cobra in our case would be good, though not for most people)

we are going to lapse into cobra coverage as his severance health care ends this month...and won't start new job till late next month, almost July.
This is not a cobra question overall. thanks!
